EEOICPA Exposure Cohort for Oak Ridge National Laboratory (X-10)

     On July 18, 2011 the Law Offices of Tony Farmer & John Dreiser submitted a petition to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) concerning a Special Exposure Cohort (SEC) for X-10 employees and their survivors. On August 17, 2012 NIOSH issued a SEC Petition Evaluation Report recommending a new class of employees be afforded Special Exposure Cohort status as follows:

Tennessee car accident kills teenage girl

A Tennessee community has lost one of its young members as a result of a tragic crash. The 16-year-old died only a month after obtaining her driver's license. As is the case in many terrible car accidents, those left behind now must learn to live with the loss of a young, exuberant life.

Social Security Disability and SSI Allowance Rates in Tennessee

The Social Security Administration recently released information regarding Allowance Rates for Social Security Disability and SSI claims for Fiscal Year 2011. The Allowance Rates are a percentage of cases approved at the Application stage and Reconsideration. Consistent with recent years, the allowance rate in Tennessee is 24.5% at the application stage and only 8.9% at Reconsideration. Put in more proper perspective, three out of every four claimants are denied benefits on their application and nine out of ten are denied at Reconsideration.

Tragic car accidents in Tennessee often end in death and injury

Two young people were involved in a tragic car accident which resulted in the death of the driver of the one vehicle involved. As is the case in many car accidents, the families of the young victims must now work to come to terms with their devastation. "Extreme" Limitations in Childhood SSI Cases

In childhood SSI claims, the claimant must show she has an impairment or combination of impairments that meets or equals an impairment listed in Subpart P, Appendix 1 of 20 C.F.R. Pt. 404. If a listing is not met, disability can  nonetheless be established if the impairment is medically or functionally equivalent by having "marked" limitations in two domains of functioning or "extreme" limitations in one domain of functioning.

Personal injury accident in Knoxville leaves man in hospital

A Knoxville man sits in a room at a local hospital recovering from severe injuries suffered when the bicycle that he was riding was hit from behind by a truck. The man suffered severe personal injury from the crash that happened as he rode down a steep local roadway. His injuries include a broken leg and a broken arm among others.

Tennessee police look to tire as possible cause of truck accident

Police believe that a truck accident that has taken the lives of three individuals and injured two more may have been the result of faulty tire. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report that was recently released on this truck accident, a pickup truck crossed over the center line and struck a tractor-trailer head on. Three of the occupants of the truck were pronounced dead at the scene.

     Social Security Disability and SSI benefits can be available to individuals suffering from labyrinthine-vestibular dysfunction or Ménière's disease. Ménière's disease (hydrops or endolymphatic hydrops) is an inner ear disorder that affects balance and hearing. Claimants can qualify for benefits due to disturbance of labyrinthine-vestibular function if certain requirements are met.

Drunk driving accident proves tragic for Tennessee mother-to-be

Drunk driving has tragic consequences far too often on American roadways. One Tennessee mother believes that a drunk driver caused the death of the unborn baby. The woman was just weeks away from giving birth when the alleged drunk driving car accident took place.
