Speeding a factor in crash injuring Tennessee college students

Five individuals were involved in a single car accident that injured three Tennessee college students and killed the driver. The accident happened on I-40 when the car rolled down an embankment. According to police, speeding is believed to be a factor in the accident.

Among the occupants of the vehicle were the 21-year-old driver, who was killed, and four other passengers. Three of the passengers are students at Lane College, and all were injured in the crash. Another passenger who is not a student at Lane also sustained injuries. Reports immediately following the accident do not detail the exact nature or extent of their injuries.

Lane College acknowledged that the three students were on their way to the campus in order to register for classes beginning in the spring semester. The college and other students have expressed their sympathy and concern for the victims and their families. Officials have not released any additional information about what may have led to this tragic accident.

Tennessee's personal injury laws allow anyone injured due to the negligence of another party to seek damages against that person. In this car accident, there may be factors other than speeding which played a role in the fate of these victims. As the investigation unfolds, the injured parties may choose to investigate their rights under our state's laws. Successfully litigated personal injury claims can provide much needed compensation for those injured in a crash. Due to the sometimes challenging and emotional nature of personal injury claims, the victims of a car accident may find it beneficial to seek the assistance of someone knowledgeable about our state's personal injury laws.
