Tennessee truck accident a real tragedy

One accident on a recent Thursday evening at the end of June in Tennessee has led to the death of six people. This is the most people killed in one single truck accident in the last ten years in the state. According to reports, a large truck ploughed into eight cars that were waiting at a road construction site on the highway.

All four occupants travelling in one of the cars were killed – two ladies, 31 and 50 years old, as well as two children. One of the children was eight years old, while the other was 10 or 11 years old. The other two victims were men, aged 36 and 37, each traveling in his own vehicle. Three of the deceased are from Tennessee.

At least six people were injured. Fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening. Only four people, who traveled in one of the cars, escaped injury. The truck driver and his passenger were also not hurt. The tragic accident left the highway closed for 12 hours, and it was only opened the Friday morning after accident.

Apart from leading to the most fatalities in one accident, the accident is also reported to include the most vehicles involved in a single accident in 10 years. The cause of the accident is yet to be established. Tennessee traffic authorities are investigating the accident. They will be assisted by a team sent by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Once the investigation into the Tennessee accident has been completed, it should become clear if the truck driver acted negligently in any way. The legal estates of the deceased victims may choose to file wrongful death claims against the truck driver, while seriously injured victims of the truck accident may elect to file personal injury claims. Successfully litigated civil claims provide for the reimbursement of any related monetary damages. Monetary damages awarded from a successful claim could help the victims better cope with the unexpected expenses arising from the truck accident.
