Tennessee car wreck kills 1, injures 3

An accident between two vehicles during the early hours of the morning of the last Monday in May led to one fatality. The car wreck was reported to Tennessee authorities at approximately 2:40 a.m. on the specific Monday. Three people, including two children, were injured in the accident.

According to the traffic authorities, the 20-year-old deceased driver was speeding when he crossed into the northbound lane of the road on which he was traveling. He struck the second vehicle, driven by a 20-year-old female, head-on. She and both her passengers, a 12-year-old and a 3-year-old, were injured in the accident.

The accident is currently under investigation. It is not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident, nor is it clear how serious the injuries suffered by the three victims are. Nevertheless, this accident once again appears to underscore the dangers of traveling at high speeds, especially at night. In this instance, several families have been left devastated by the accident.

In Tennessee, a victim who has been seriously injured in a car wreck caused by another person's negligence may elect to initiate a personal injury claim in civil court against the at-fault party or his or her estate. Any damages awarded, should the claim be successful, may assist in paying the costs stemming from the accident, such as medical and rehabilitation costs as well as any loss of income from work. Should any injured victims pass away, the legal estate of such a deceased passenger may institute a wrongful death claim. A successful wrongful death claim may assist the family in meeting the financial burdens that typically accompany tragedies of this nature.
