Single-vehicle car accident leaves 2 dead, 2 injured

It is tragic when people are killed in a car accident. In the blink of an eye, lives can be lost and families can be tossed into levels of grief that many of us cannot even imagine. Such was the case when a car accident on Oct. 29 left two women dead and the Knoxville, Tennessee, driver facing possible criminal charges.

Vocational Experts in a Social Security Disability or SSI Case

Social Security Disability and SSI claims often involve vocational information and testimony from vocational experts. Sometimes vocational information is in a report from a person who has never seen the claimant, but simply has reviewed the record. More often a vocational expert appears at the hearing to provide testimony. After a finding of medical disability, the question becomes whether the claimant can do past work or any other work, perhaps at a lighter or sedentary level. A 55-year-old coal miner with a fifth grade education is in a different position than a 40-year-old with a graduate degree.

Two Knoxville teens die in crash

The Social Security Administration announced 13 new Compassionate Allowances conditions involving the immune system and neurological disorders. The Compassionate Allowances program fast-tracks disability decisions to ensure that claimants with the most serious disabilities receive benefit decisions within days instead of months or years.
