Tragic example of how deadly Tennessee car accidents can be

On Behalf of | Aug 2, 2013 | Car Accidents |

When the weekend arrives, many people get on the road to enjoy their night. At times, Tennessee roads are crowded with party-goers, thrill seekers and drivers who are simply negligent. Unfortunately, car accidents are a common occurrence on almost any roadway, and can be devastating to anyone involved. One recent weekend ended tragically for one Tennessee family after a 15-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run accident.

The teenager was reportedly struck and killed in the late evening hours as he walked down the street. The driver of what is believed to be an SUV hit the teen and dragged him for a short distance. The driver of the car never bothered to stop, but rather fled the scene right after the accident, leaving the teenager lying in the roadway.

The teen was transported to a local hospital for medical care, but sadly, was declared dead at the hospital as a result of the horrific injuries that he sustained. As the family of the victim makes funeral arrangements, they are likely saddened and angered that the driver who struck the teen has still not been brought to justice. Investigators are still searching for the driver in this incident and have reached out to the community for assistance.

Authorities are continuing to investigate and likely are working to determine what criminal charges may be brought against the driver. In addition to any criminal charges, the driver could face civil actions as well. When car accidents result in fatalities, the consequences are devastating, not only for the victim, but also for friends and loved ones as well. The family affected by this case may entitled to file a wrongful death suit against the driver once he or she is located. Successfully litigated claims in Tennessee often result in much needed monetary damages for the family of the deceased victim, including compensation for medical or funeral expenses, pain and suffering and more.
