Man injured when his vehicle is rear-ended, then flips

It doesn't take much to cause a car crash. A second or two looking at a cellphone, a moment to change the radio station or just simply to look in the rearview mirror for too long is all it takes. No matter how carefully you drive, there is a chance that you will be injured in a car crash because of someone else's inattention, recklessness or negligence.

A 72-year-old man is recovering at the University of Tennessee hospital after his vehicle was rear-ended on Alcoa Highway. According to police, a 29-year-old female was driving a Dodge Avenger in the left lane of the highway. The traffic started to slow down, so she moved to the right lane. However, police reported that the woman didn't realize the traffic in the right lane was stopped completely. She slammed into the back of the 72-year-old's Honda Accord, which left the roadway and flipped. It hit the rear of a Chevrolet Equinox that was pulled off on the right shoulder of the road.

The Accord landed on its roof. By the time rescue workers arrived, the older man was walking around, but was transported to the hospital. No one else required transport to the hospital, according to police.

This crash shows how quickly an injury accident can occur and affect multiple vehicles. The woman driving the Avenger was charged with failing to provide proof of insurance and following improperly.

If you are injured because of another driver's actions, you have a right to seek compensation. A Knoxville attorney can help you understand your legal options.
