Fatal car wreck in Tennessee leaves childhood friends devastated

A 68-year-old woman died in a car accident, just like her parents died many decades ago. The deceased and a friend were on their way to their 50 year high school reunion when the car wreck happened in Robertson County. Shortly after arriving in Tennessee, the two ladies were involved in a head-on collision.

The other vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction on a northbound highway when the collision happened. Both the deceased driver and her friend were airlifted from the accident scene to a medical center in the Nashville region. While the condition of the passenger was listed a stable, the 68-year-old woman was injured critically and died before her high school friends could reach her. Fortunately, her only son was there to hold her hand.

The deceased was warmly remembered by her close childhood friends. She and other deceased classmates were remembered by the planting of a cherry tree at the high school they attended. She will be fondly remembered for her love of life.

No information was initially available about the driver of the vehicle that hit the two women, but charges are pending. Regardless of the outcome of the criminal case, the family of the deceased driver and the injured passenger may choose to file a civil claim against the car driver. Victims seriously injured in car wrecks in Tennessee, or the families of deceased victims, may elect to file civil claims for damages sustained should the evidence demonstrate that negligence was the root cause of the accident. Damages awarded to the victims of a car wreck, or their families, may help ease the financial suffering during a time when they are already struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
