Multi-car wreck leads to serious injuries to man’s lower body

Running out of gas during the early hours of a recent Wednesday morning at the end of April may have changed the life of a 22-year-old male. The 3-car wreck happened around 1 a.m. along Callahan Drive in the northwestern section of Knoxville. The Tennessee man and his female passenger stopped when their car ran out of gas.

Another driver in a pickup truck pulled up and offered assistance to the stranded couple. Within moments, a third driver in a compact vehicle crashed into the rear end of the pickup. At that point, the driver of the disabled car was between his car and the pickup truck. The impact of the crash pinned that man between his car and the truck.

The 22-year-old was transported to a medical center in the area with serious injuries to his legs. To date, no further information is available about his condition. Luckily, nobody else suffered any injuries in the car wreck. The 33-year-old woman deemed responsible for the accident is now facing charges for driving carelessly, having no proof of insurance, as well as driving with a suspended license.

No matter what the outcome of the pending charges is, the accident victim has the right to initiate a personal injury claim against the accused woman. In Tennessee, a seriously injured victim of a car wreck may file a civil claim for monetary damages arising from an accident. Successfully litigated personal injury claims may provide for the reimbursement of any monetary damages. These often include medical bills, loss of employment income and pain and suffering related to the accident and injuries that resulted.
