Tennessee man killed in dump truck accident

A Tennessee man was killed in an accident when an oncoming dump truck smashed into his car. The 59-year-old man was from Athens, just southwest of Knoxville.

Police say the truck accident happened on a Tuesday afternoon in September. The drive of the Kenworth dump truck was carrying a full load of rocks when the truck dropped off the right shoulder, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol officials. The driver was heading south on Hotchkiss  Valley Road. The driver overcorrected and drove into the path of the oncoming pickup truck.

The pickup truck was carrying the 59-year-old and a 30-year-old passenger, also from Athens. The younger man was injured in the crash. Police did not disclose any information as to how the two men in the pickup truck knew each other. They also did not provide information about the driver of the dump truck or what company he was working for.

The highway patrol is investigating the incident to determine what happened. They say charges are pending, though they did not disclose what charges they are considering. As the investigation continues, the family of the man who died is left with unanswered questions and the cost of having to plan a funeral. The man who was injured may have to deal with current and future medical bills as a result of the crash. In Tennessee, victims of negligent drivers may seek compensation for their pain and suffering. A qualified attorney can help clients build a strong case in order to get a just result.
